PROFIP - PROFINET-WorldFIP translator
ProFIP is a part of DI/OT project.
PROFIP is a translator between PROFINET and WorldFIP that allows for a deterministic low-latency exchange of the cyclical process data between the two networks.
Basic Description | |
---|---|
Environment | Radiation-free environment |
Hardware | SVEC carrier - https://ohwr.org/project/svec/wikis/home |
FMC-Profinet - https://ohwr.org/project/fmc-profinet/wikis/home | |
FMC-masterFIP - https://ohwr.org/project/fmc-masterfip/wikis/home | |
Implementation | WorldFIP master interfacing Profinet slave |
Considerations | Deterministic & Low-latency solution. To ensure determinism and timing the Gateway implementation is hardware-based. The use of dedicated hard/soft processors running bare-metal code or a simple RTOS is possible; a complex Linux-like or WindowsOS shall not be used. |
Control process | The Control process shall be running on the PROFINET side, using the STEP7 engineering software; there shall be no control process on the WorldFIP Master side. |
Expected units | Few; mixing of existing Profinet installations with WorldFIP on rad-exposed locations; PIC/WIC/Cryo/Experiments |
