FMC-PROFINET
FMC-PROFINET is a PROFINET IO device (“slave”) card based on the Siemens ERTEC200-P chip in the FMC-LPC form-factor.
ERTEC200P is a microprocessor (ASIC) based on an ARM946ES core or ARM926 core (ERTEC200P) with an integrated Ethernet switch for isochronous real-time communication via PROFINET from Siemens and Renesas Electronics, formerly NEC.
The data transfer via PROFINET IO is carried out entirely by the ERTEC hardware. The resources of the integrated ARM core are thus available for other applications, for example for controlling or operating simple field devices.
