Basically it is a Python environment to check the connectivity of all
components of a board after production. E.g. it checks for no opens, no
shorts, all components working etc. It is not a functional test. In most
cases we have specific gateware to be able to test everything and as a
last step we load the final, functional gateware. The idea is that any
technician at a production company can easily test a card.
