SFPs potentialy broken by WR Switch
GSI reported that they had a problem with few of their APAC Opto LS38-C3S-TC-N-B9 SFP. They suddenly stopped working with WR Switch. Ethernet traffic was flowing but the port with such 'broken' SFP was not able to perform WR synchronization.
Observed symptoms:
- the green LED to the lower left of the port remains off, although the partners on the other hand of the fibers (nodes, switches) detect a link
- the wr_mon utility does not display the concerned ports as connected
- there is no PTP traffic via the concerned ports and subsequently no WR link established
- the HAL still detects if another node is connected or disconnected (link up / link down)
- normal Ethernet (= non-PTP) traffic is transmitted via the concerned
SFPs and ports.
- in case of normal traffic, the orange LED to the lower right of the
port blinks
