Open Hardware Research
Project description
This wiki contains all the information of our research collaboration on the "Open Hardware Initiative" at CERN. Our research results will contribute to the design and implementation of an assessment framework of Free and Open Source technologies for the organization.
Research question
What is the technoscientific, legal, and economic impact of Open Hardware development at CERN? To respond to this question, we combine qualitative and quantitative research methods to examine the "blind spots" of knowledge transfer policies with a particular focus on the impact of Free and Open Source development for hardware, software, and data dissemination. To achieve our research goal, we will study how CERN engages in Open Hardware development alongside its partners in companies, national laboratories, and community projects.
