Power backplane V0.1 review
Item needing further study
-
For better thermal behavior, should the power planes be on the outer layer, and with increased thickness (e.g. 70 or 100um)

Addition of a table with "Layer stack-up details", board dimensions and a mark for each layer; please refer to this project: https://edms.cern.ch/nav/P:EDA-03613:V0/P:EDA-03613:V0 -
Board dimensions do not seem correct; the height should be: 128.5 mm (width: 39.19, thickness around 4 mm) -
J3 seems too close to the edge; rule of thumb is a margin ¬0.5mm from edge -
Bottom layer can also host a GND polygon -
Layers are swapped, F.Cu to become the Bottom.Cu with all the connectors -
J2 and J3 to be swapped - to allow ribbon cable going from main backplane to Utility 1 (J3) and then another ribbon between the power backplanes from Utility 2 (J2) -
Top Silkscreen to be similar to the off-the-shelf backplane; mainly addition of: "DI/OT power backplane" (larger font) "Licensed under CERN OHL v.1.2” (smaller font) "PSU" above main connector mark on P1,2,3 the L,N,PE mark UTIL1, UTIL2 above each respective connector mark Addr on top of of sw1 mark curr_share on top of JP1 mark P5V instead of 5V, P12V instead of 12V mark Layer number, or 'Top' -
Bottom silkscreen to be similar to the off-the-shelf backplane; mainly addition of: mark UTIL1, UTIL2 above each respective connector mark P5V, P12V, GND mark "PSU" above main connector -
Checking of the 230V cutout, seems too tight; comparison with off-the-shelf backplane -
For the PwrBlade connector, some of the pin pads (E.g. those for P6/P7 i.e. GND) have thermal reliefs while others (E.g. those for P8/P9) do not have them. Although the PwrBlade is a pressfit type connector, owing to the higher currents (up to 8.3 A) in the power and ground pins, it is advisable to solder them too. In that case, it has to be ascertained if thermal reliefs are required. If so, the same rule should be uniformly applied to all pin-to-plane connections. -
Rename layers: F to Top, L1_GND, etc -
Filling-in of the table of info on the bottom right corner of the sheet -
No links to 3D libraries on "C://Michal/sth"; this is in principle corrected on the ohwr.org repo
