White Rabbit Switch supplied by OPNT
From now on the 18-port White Rabbit switch can also be ordered from
OPNT. This project page describes the changes / additions OPNT has
made.
The changes fall into two categories: replace existing components due to
obsolescence and making changes to allow easy installation of a
low-jitter-daughterboard.
SCB3.4.1
The image below shows the component layout of the
SCB3.4.1
Compared to the SCB3.4 J3 is always fitted and J5 & J6 are added. J6 is a u.FL connector to which the clock output of the Low-jitter-daughterboard can be connected. J5 is used to select between the existing oscillator or the Low-jitter-daughterboard.
A less visible change is the replacement of obsolete components. The biggest change is using a different NAND flash. Also the ethernet connector is soldered to the board so it cannot come lose.
Backplane (carrier board_ 3.3.1
The backplane has been modified so the fans are always on. This is safer because in case of a software failure the fans will still work and keep the hardware cooled. Also more sturdy SFP cages have been used.
