Using the SFP management port on WRS-18
WRS-18 can be managed via the optical SFP management port. This optical SFP management port is named as eth1 in WRS Linux system.
There will be a optical link for uplink for most of the WR applications, thus to use a multi-fiber cable can merge the uplink and management fiber together into one single cable which may greatly simplify the cable deployment.
The optical management port is provided by a USB-Ethernet convert IC(asix 88772B/C) and only supports 100Base fiber network, an external convert module or 100base Fx optical switch could help to connect to normal computer or server.
1. connect single WRS in lab:
1.1 SFP to RJ45 or USB Converters
- USB100FX (100base Fx SFP to USB2.0) adapter

- HTB-3100AB (100base FX SFP to RJ45) converter

note:
- Different wavelength for up/down link thus the SFP module used in WRS must match the converters which has two different types.
- SC fiber connectors are normally used for 100Base-FX, LC/SC fibers are needed.
1.2 SFP used to connect WRS management SFP port and converters
normal SFP modules(100Base or 1000Base) need to be installed in the WRS management SFP port, the following types have been tested. Other SFP modules used in WR should be fine.
- 100BASE-BX BiDi SFP

2. Manage multiple WRSes
All optical manager switch(100base Fx) is recommended for this situation. The same types of SFP modules for WR SFP ports can be used for this purpose too.
The following type of all optical manager switch (OPT DT/R 2G+2GE+24F-M, www.fcvision.com.cn) has been tested and 20 have been installed in a cosmic ray experiment to manage over 440 WRSs.
