Daughterboard for the White Rabbit Switch
General description of the board
The aim of the board is to improve the performance of the WR Switch
using an external PLL and a new VCTCXO.
A prototype of this board has been tested successfully, however the
prototype lacks in terms of flexibility, since it requires external
hardware to make it works. The board is intended to be mounted inside
the switch, using the installed 12V power supply of the WRS.
The board has a new external 10 MHz input, to be used instead of the
current 10 MHz input when configured as Grand Master. The improvements
are also effective when configured as boundary, thanks to the new
VCTCXO.
The proposed board can be installed in any PCB v3.3 and v3.4 versions of
the switch. The following steps are required to install the board inside
the switch:
- Soldering of the SMI link connector: this can be easily done with an hot air-gun. Three switches have been modified with 100% sucess rate
- Remove of the VM53S3 oscillator and install of an U.FL connector

- The schematic has been updated due to a wrong symbol, page 6 (PLL). The change does not affect any other sheet.
