Stand-alone 18-slot FMC carrier
Project description
The carrier was primarily built for Gas Electron Multiplier spectrometer
signal processing.
It is able to process 256 channels, each sampling with 100MHz,
10bits.
Main Features
- 18 or 36 FMC sockets
- Low jitter clock distribution network
- White Rabbit SERDES and oscillators
- Standard ITX mainboard
- Standard 1kW ATX power supply
- Modularity, up to 36 modules in 4U 19” case
- No defined logical interface, just 38 bidir LVDS/74SE lanes, up to 24Gbit/s. Any type of interface is possible to implement.
- Star-type connection
- Deterministic behaviour. Latencies may be as low as a few ns
- Low cost measurement modules. They may be even passive
- Central processing unit with storage
- PCIe, Gen II, 5Gbit/s non blocking switch
- Centralised low jitter clock management
- Centralised FPGA configuration
- I2C, SPI,JTAG management intefaces
- Intelligent module detection
- Dedicated FMC sockets for DSP accelerators or 10Gbit/s connection
- Embedded strong multi-core PC with Linux
- Advanced thermal management
