Notes & Actions
- Purchasing of thermocouple sensors to be installed on the RaToPUS and performing measurements (full load; with enclosure). Objectives:
- Determine inside RaToPUS “ambient air” temperature maximum
- Identify potential hotspots on the board (also with fans). Especially monitor L7, TR2, L6, IC7, (snubber resistors)
- Measure with and w/o fans to assess the effect of fan cooling on the dT reduction
- Decide on ORing diodes implementation (inside RaToPUS or on BP)
- “Ideal ORing diodes” used in commercial PSUs could be considered but would need to be radiation tested
- Real estate and additional heat dissipation (~8A*0.5V=4W) to be taken into account if inside RaToPUS
- Hartmann COTS PSU outlines “Installed with internal OR-ing diodes”.
- Assess possibility to use a black PCB for better heat dissipation.
- Climatic chamber tests to be performed for more data
- As soon as devices are ready
- Precise strategy to be worked out
- Single RaToPUS’ inside a climatic chamber, raising temp. in steps and measuring/logging in real time various parameters: V, I, T (thermocouple sensors, infrared), LEDs, … MiniMoniMod??
