# Licences Putting files on the Web is not enough when you want to share hardware designs. Copyright law defaults to 'all rights reserved', and other IP rights are similarly restrictive, so designers need to provide certain freedoms to users explicitly. This is the role of licences. Here you will find links to the texts of the most relevant licences we use in the Open Hardware Repository. ## [CERN Open Hardware License (CERN OHL)](https://ohwr.org/project/cernohl/wikis) * [CERN OHL v2.0](https://ohwr.org/project/cernohl/wikis/Documents/CERN-OHL-version-2) * [CERN OHL v1.2](cern-ohl-v1.2) * [CERN OHL v1.1](cern-ohl-v1.1) ## [GNU General Public License (GPL)](http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/gpl.html) * [GPL v3.0](http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-3.0.html) * [GPL v2.0](http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-2.0.html) ## [GNU Library General Public License (LGPL)](http://www.gnu.org/licenses/lgpl.html) * [LGPL v3.0](http://www.gnu.org/licenses/lgpl-3.0.html) * [LGPL v2.1](http://www.gnu.org/licenses/lgpl-2.1.html) ## [Mozilla Public License (MPL)](https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/MPL/) * [MPL v2.0](https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/MPL/2.0/) ## [Apache License](https://www.apache.org/licenses/) * [Apache v2.0](https://www.apache.org/licenses/LICENSE-2.0) ## [TAPR Open Hardware License (TAPR OHL)](http://www.tapr.org/OHL) * [TAPR OHL v1.0](https://web.tapr.org/TAPR_Open_Hardware_License_v1.0.txt)
